On Thursday, 20th February, the Ngarrindjeri community came together for an important Community Information Session. The event provided a space for discussion, learning, and connection, focusing on Nation Building, the history of the Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority (NRA), and our shared future.
Key Highlights:
✅ Nation Building – We explored how strengthening Ngarrindjeri cultural identity and sovereignty contributes to the well-being of our people.
✅ History of NRA – A look back at the foundation of the Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority and its role in self-determination, cultural protection, and advocacy.
✅ Our Future – A discussion on aspirations, key goals, and pathways toward a future of clean waters, healthy land, and thriving people.
We were honored to have Professor Daryle Rigney and Professor Steve Hemming from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) lead the discussions, bringing their deep knowledge, research, and lived experience to the conversation. Their insights into Nation Building and Ngarrindjeri self-determination provided a powerful foundation for reflection and forward planning.
The event was a meaningful opportunity for Ngarrindjeri voices to be heard, stories to be shared, and ideas to be shaped for the journey ahead. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported this gathering.
